About The Position

The Scheduler- Lead works with the Section Supervisor and reports to the Clinic Director. This position is responsible for assisting in directing the surgical scheduler team on a day to day basis and ensuring all duties are performed in a productive and high quality manner. Coordinates the late-night rotation schedule and ensures the Surgery Scheduler position is adequately covered. This position will assist the Section Supervisor and Clinic Director in the preparation of job performance evaluations, will attend monthly surgery coordinators meetings and keep accurate records. Participates in ad hoc committees as requested. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum two years of experience in a medical office practice required
  • Medical Terminology experience required
  • Knowledge of ICD codes required
  • Thorough knowledge of surgery scheduling process, procedures within specialty
  • Data entry experience required
  • Legible handwriting required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Personable
  • Helpful
  • Requires excellent interpersonal communication skills, including professional telephone manners and clear command of English language
  • Strong organizational skills for detailed paperwork and follow-up
  • Must be able to multi-task and handle numerous cases simultaneously, often under pressure
  • Must be able to function with minimal supervision, act decisively
  • Able to work independently, to comprehend and follow physician instruction in person and via telephone, to maintain accuracy in all aspects of the scheduling process and pay attention to detail
  • Requires ability to cope with occasional stressful situations
  • Requires adequate visual, hearing, olfactory and tactile acuity to proficiently perform required duties
