About The Position

Northside Hospital is an award-winning, state-of-the-art, and continually growing healthcare provider. This position involves performing the scheduling function for Physician Practices, acting as a professional liaison for staff, other hospital personnel, medical staff, and physicians’ offices. The role requires specific knowledge of all clinical service lines for the operating rooms at all Northside surgical locations or any affiliated Outpatient Surgery Center. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in surgical scheduling, ideally complemented by a clinical foundation and a solid understanding of anatomy, especially given the demands of a trauma-focused environment.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Nursing or related field OR Five (5) years’ experience in a clerical healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology via prior healthcare experience, completion of a medical terminology course or a passing score on the medical terminology assessment.
  • Specific knowledge of all clinical service lines for the operating rooms at all Northside surgical locations or any affiliated Outpatient Surgery Center.
  • Typing skills.
  • Experience using computerized documentation systems.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Strong background in surgical scheduling.
  • Clinical foundation.
  • Solid understanding of anatomy.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Nursing or related field.
  • Previous experience in hospital/medical office scheduling environment.
  • Demonstrates high level proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the use of a computerized scheduling system.
  • Experience interfacing with physician offices, other organization departments, and third-party payers.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of responsibility.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, facilitation, verbal communication, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan time effectively, balance multiple tasks, and execute projects to completion.
