About The Position

Under the direction of the Medical Practice Manager, the Surgery Scheduler performs surgery scheduling and various routine clerical tasks. The Surgery Scheduler oversees insurance inquiries; performs pre-admission reviews and explains deductible and payments if necessary; schedules surgery time with hospital and schedules physical before surgery date. Works closely with Office Manager and other members of the office to trouble-shoot and resolve problems, maintains positive relationships with patients, family members and other visitors, and fellow employees. Requirements

  • Knowledge of medical/surgical terminology and procedures
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 CM and CPT coding systems.
  • Strong knowledge of computers and computerized practice management systems and other computerized systems (Microsoft office programs and electronic health records systems).
  • Demonstrates good telephone management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks with interruption and able to multi-task
  • Critical thinking, the ability to identify problems, good solving skills to resolve them in a timely manner
  • Use of customer service principles and practices
  • Good English communication skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Excellent grammar, punctuation, proofreading, editing and composition skills
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills, bilingual helpful.
