About The Position

MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina. The Surgical Services Scheduler, under general supervision of the OR Nurse Manager, coordinates the activities related to patient surgery scheduling within the peri-operative environment, interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcome. Schedules all procedures and assures that all of the appropriate clinical and insurance coding information is collected. Scheduler receives requests to schedule procedures and schedules the procedure according to established guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent education and two-three years related work experience; or Associates Degree with one to two years related experience; or Bachelor’s degree with one-year related work experience required.
• Considerable knowledge and skill in the application of the techniques and practices of OR Scheduling.
• Considerable knowledge of complex medical terminology and advanced disease processes preferred.
• Typing speed of 35 cwpm, and computer experience required.
