The Surgery Scheduler for Gastroenterology at Covenant Management Systems plays a crucial role in coordinating surgical procedures for physicians at local surgery centers and hospitals. The Surgery Scheduler will work closely with physicians and clinical teams to schedule patient surgeries, as well as pre-operative and post-operative appointments. This role requires a high level of organization and attention to detail, as the scheduler must manage multiple tasks and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare providers. In addition to scheduling surgeries, the Surgery Scheduler is responsible for coordinating necessary surgical devices and implants with vendor representatives, as well as ensuring surgical assistant coverage when applicable. The position also involves meeting with patients prior to surgery to discuss pre-surgical instructions, consents, surgical estimates, and insurance authorization information. The Surgery Scheduler must collect and accurately post surgical patient payments, complete surgery checklists, and ensure that all pre-operative orders are created and sent to the appropriate facilities. The role requires the ability to facilitate surgery cancellations, time changes, and other modifications while keeping all parties informed. The Surgery Scheduler will also update EPIC and Outlook calendars with any changes to the physician's schedule and code surgery orders prior to sending them to the facility. Additionally, the scheduler will need to obtain insurance benefits and authorization requirements for procedures, initiate charity processes for uninsured patients, and review patient histories to ensure accuracy in EPIC. This position demands regular and dependable attendance, adherence to company policies, and the ability to assist other surgery schedulers as needed.
