About The Position

The Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Surgery Institute is seeking a Critical Care Physician to join our team serving West Penn Hospital in the Pittsburgh area. Our current needs focus on pre- and post-surgical critical care (Surgical Oncology, Acute Care Surgery, Bariatrics), obstetrical & gynecology critical care, cardiology critical care & burn critical care. We welcome established physicians as well as support newer physicians who are looking to develop their skills alongside knowledgeable mentors, advanced practice providers, and resident physicians.

Requirements

• Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
• Successful completion of an accredited residency program in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Anesthesiology, or related field.
• Fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine.
• Board certification in Critical Care Medicine (or eligibility for certification).
• Licensed in the state of Pennsylvania prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide outstanding clinical skills.
• Contribute to teaching/educational activities.
• Engage in research opportunities if desired.
• Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Work effectively within a diverse team.
• Provide comprehensive care to critically ill patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
• Diagnose, treat, and manage patients with a wide range of acute and life-threatening conditions.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Perform procedures commonly required in the ICU setting, such as central line placement, endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation management, and arterial line placement.
