The Surgery Practice Coordinator (PC) is primarily responsible for coordinating and scheduling all outpatient and inpatient surgeries for the surgical practice. S/he will ensure that all surgical procedures are scheduled within a clinically appropriate time frame and will interface with patients, physicians, and hospital staff to ensure adequate communication regarding all aspects of surgical services. S/he will work closely with the attending and resident physicians to ensure patient appropriate surgical schedule placement and will be responsible for coordinating/scheduling all pre and post op appointments with surgeon, in addition to biometry, anesthesia clearance, and COVID testing. S/he may also be required to coordinate patient transportation to and from hospital, as well as work with social workers to address other patient needs related to surgery. This position will also require frequently managing complex scheduling coordination related to securing OR time outside of designated block time in the operating room. S/he supports all functions of the clinical teams including but not limited to: Patient scheduling, telephone encounters, referrals, scanning, filing, authorizations, and billing. The Surgery PC is responsible for the maintenance of the surgery scheduling database and communications regarding data related to pending surgeries. S/he will adhere to the ZSFG telephone standards and is sensitive to the needs of patients, staff and providers at all times. The Surgery PC is a team player who works closely with others and who is flexible in dealing with the changing priorities. S/he is a self-reliant individual who synthesizes his/her knowledge of practice operations in order to problem-solve, prioritize and facilitate complex transactions in the course of his/her daily activities. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $31.91 - $45.70 (Hourly Rate).
