About The Position

Orthopaedic Medical Group of Tampa Bay is seeking a full-time Surgery Authorization Coordinator to join our dynamic team in Lithia, Florida. This role is integral to our fast-paced orthopaedic practice, which operates across nine locations. The Surgery Authorization Coordinator will work closely with orthopaedic surgeons to ensure the successful scheduling and coordination of care for patients requiring surgical intervention. This position involves liaising with patients, insurance companies, and surgical facilities to obtain all necessary documents and authorizations for surgery. The coordinator will maintain an up-to-date surgical schedule and ensure that all required documents are prepared for the day of surgery, thereby facilitating a smooth process for both patients and providers. In this role, the Surgery Authorization Coordinator will provide excellent customer service, making follow-up calls to patients and ensuring that all aspects of the job align with the organization's mission and values. The coordinator will also participate in team efforts to assess and improve customer service delivery to patients. This includes managing communication between patients, providers, insurance companies, and ancillary departments. The coordinator will review patient demographics to ensure accuracy in the electronic medical record (EMR) system and will be responsible for completing all necessary workers' compensation paperwork, ensuring copies are provided to both the patient and the insurance company. The position requires a strong commitment to maintaining the security and confidentiality of all medical records. The Surgery Authorization Coordinator will be accountable for ensuring that correct data is entered into the EMR system and for completing daily duties efficiently. The role may require travel to other office locations, and bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is desired. Knowledge of orthopaedics and surgical scheduling experience are also preferred. The work environment is professional and clinical, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, tablets, and phones. The position is full-time, with expected hours from Monday to Friday, and may require occasional overtime based on business needs.
