About The Position

This position supports the overall operation of the surgery department, including procedure room preparation, patient transportation, and ensuring the cleanliness of facilities. The role involves overseeing the inventory process, ensuring facilities are well-stocked, and ordering additional supplies as necessary. The Surgery Attendant II is also responsible for the maintenance and availability of equipment used in procedures in the Operating Room on a daily basis. Adherence to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures is required to ensure privacy and safety, contributing to optimal patient care. The role may also involve performing specific procedures and/or orienting other staff to the department. Employees of Sutter Health and its entities may handle hazardous drugs in the course of their work, including patient care, which requires them to manage, store, prepare, receive, unpack, transport, dispose of, or administer drugs identified as hazardous or potentially hazardous by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and in accordance with the USP 800 guidelines.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
  • DL-Valid Drivers License (Department, Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center)
  • Auto Insurance (Department, Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center)
  • 1 year recent relevant experience
  • General knowledge of surgical tools, procedures, views, and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook).

  • Ability to work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.

  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
