About The Position

The Surgery Aide II of Franciscan assists and supports surgical teams in the preparation and breakdown of surgical suites, provides equipment, and maintains a sterile operating environment. This position participates in sterile supply management and inventory control, as well as transportation of patients to and from various patient care areas and departments within the hospital to designated areas. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT Prepares for surgical procedures by obtaining appropriate instruments, supplies and equipment, and appropriate records for specific surgical procedures; opens surgical supplies/equipment, cleans and prepares instruments for sterilization process and restocks pre-operative carts. Assist in transferring, lifting and positioning patients, utilizing proper body mechanics. Assists in cleanup of surgical environment after a procedure, ensuring the operating room is cleaned and set up for turnover to the next procedure. Transport patients and specimens to and from Surgical Services. Operate and clean the autoclave; perform daily and weekly biological testing of autoclave units, and check high level disinfection units. Assist the Surgical Team with ancillary patient care duties, as directed by the Patient Care Coordinator/RN. Assemble charts for newly admitted patients, and maintain charts on a daily basis.

Nice To Haves
