About The Position

The Surface Equipment Operator will report to the Surface Supervisor and is responsible for safe operation of surface equipment, buses, snow removal, dredging, and other projects using shovels and other tools. The schedule for this position is 14 days on at the mine site located about 45-miles north of Juneau, accessible only through company transportation, and 14 days off.

  • Willingness to learn and be trained on Surface related tasks and equipment.
  • Ability to work in different environments including wet & freezing weather, underground, nights, over water, at heights.
  • Ability to work manual labor including dredging ponds, shoveling snow, fusing pipe, cutting brush, cleaning under equipment, etc.
  • Ability to operate multiple pieces of equipment such as pickups, tractor trailers, forklifts, articulated haul trucks, in differing weather conditions.
  • Ability to work independently and to accept responsibility.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Good reasoning abilities; well organized; work well under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring a safe workplace while supporting environmental policies and regulations.
  • Responsible for assisting with the shift pre-start safety and planning meeting.
  • Clean, grease, adjust, and maintain equipment, using hand tools when needed.
  • Heavy and light equipment operator.
  • The regular schedule for this position is 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotational position. It will require work on weekends, holidays and rotating shifts; shift schedules require residency in on-site camp during work rotations with shared rooms.
