As a manager at American Water, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of water and/or wastewater plants, ensuring compliance with company policies and governmental regulations. Your role will involve preparing and controlling local construction, operations, and maintenance within budget limitations, while also establishing programs to meet EPA Partnership for Safe Water Goals. You will supervise the implementation of standards and policies to enhance operational efficiency and profitability, maintain operational integrity, and develop cost-effective solutions to meet customer expectations. Additionally, you will implement effective reporting processes, support employee development, and collaborate with other functional leads to mitigate business risks.

  • Assist with preparing and controlling local construction, operations, and maintenance within established budget limitations.
  • Establish a program to ensure all EPA Partnership for Safe Water Goals are met.
  • Ensure local water and/or wastewater operations meet required standards and regulatory targets.
  • Supervise the implementation of standards, targets, policies, and plans for operational efficiency.
  • Maintain operational integrity (quality, environment, reliability, health, safety, security).
  • Develop and direct cost-effective solutions to meet customer expectations.
  • Implement effective reporting processes and provide analysis to the Production Director.
  • Foster coaching and development of employees and ensure effective people management policies.
  • Support Business Development in operational analysis and pricing for water and wastewater opportunities.
  • Implement effective communications at all levels of operations.
  • Provide effective leadership to adapt to changing business environments.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; 2-year or 4-year degree in operational discipline, management, or related technical discipline preferred.
  • 3-5 years experience in supervising operational areas and managing performance targets preferred.
  • Knowledge of the regulated water/wastewater business and applicable regulations preferred.
  • Strong computer knowledge with Microsoft Office required.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Expert knowledge of process and operational areas in American Water preferred.
  • Knowledge of company policies and management theories preferred.
