Supervises the resources and activities of personnel engaged in the distribution of material parts as it relates to all warehousing functions for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) to include shipping, receiving, transferring, issuing, put-away, etc. Supports both the Bus and LRV Fleets, Ways/Structures/Amenities, integrate material receiving at the point of receipt to include other functional areas of DART. Manages daily activities of four (4) to twelve (12) direct reports, on a 24/7 basis.

  • Supervises the daily activities of personnel engaged in materials trafficking, scheduling, receiving, warehousing, and shipping of inventory parts for Bus, Rail, Streetcar, Electric-Powered Bus, Facilities, and other DART operations on a 24/7 basis.
  • Oversees requisitions for materials and supplies, credit card purchases, and operations across the distribution center and multiple satellite warehouse locations, including CROF S&l/FMB, NWROF S&l/FMB, NWBOF, SOCBOF, EDBOF, and Central Support.
  • Interviews, selects, trains, evaluates, counsels, and recommends progressive disciplinary action or termination of subordinate personnel in accordance with DART policies.
  • Acts as a resource and liaison between the section and DART departments, vendors, contractors, Maintenance, Operations, Accounts Payable, and other external partners on all matters affecting Materials Management and Procurement.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors delivery and pick-up schedules to ensure timely distribution and responsiveness to customer requirements.
  • Establishes internal goals that promote safety, efficiency, quality assurance, employee training, and cost savings. Also assists Management with creating yearly Performance Measurement Plans and Development Goals.
  • Assists Management in developing and monitoring the section OT budget, analyzing variances, preparing reports, and coordinating weekend on-call duty, staff support, and compliance with the onsite substance abuse program.
  • Supports Management by training warehouse personnel on all safety-related procedures, including the safe operation of warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, lifting equipment, etc.), proper handling of bulk liquid deliveries, and compliance with workplace safety and reporting standards.
  • Provides business and inventory management support by monitoring reorder points, identifying usage spikes and trends, tracking overdue purchase orders, and assisting with software testing, trending reports, and system upgrades.
  • Collaborates with Fleet Engineering to identify part and equipment failures, duplications, and obsolescence.
  • Acts as proxy for the Manager or Sr. Manager in his/her absence.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years' experience in inventory, shipping, receiving, warehousing, and distribution, including a minimum of two (2) years' supervisory/lead experience.
  • Assignment to work a variety of schedules, including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
  • Rotating shift, weekend, holiday, and overtime schedules.
  • Proficiency with PC software applications, including Microsoft Office or other related software.
  • Pass a physical (medical) examination that includes a drug screen to operate DART non-revenue vehicles.
  • Knowledge of budget development/analysis and operational cost factors.
