The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the mechanical maintenance department, diagnosing equipment failures, and repairing problems as they arise. This role involves supervising, coordinating, and leading employees and activities within the Mechanical Maintenance Department, focusing on preventative and predictive maintenance. In this position, you will ensure the safety of all employees and contractors in the operating unit or department by promoting a true safety culture. You will also ensure compliance with all relevant standards and programs, including safety, environmental, quality, maintenance, and manufacturing policies and procedures. Your leadership will drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and environmental practices through active participation with employees. You will supervise and develop personnel within the mechanical maintenance department, including training, performance management, and scheduling activities. Additionally, you will schedule and assign preventative and predictive maintenance tasks, manage inventory of spares, prepare departmental reports, and supervise construction, installation, modification, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment. You will work cooperatively with other departments and vendors to meet plant objectives and manage the department budget, while also maintaining knowledge of industry-wide technological developments.

  • Oversee mechanical maintenance department and diagnose equipment failures.
  • Supervise and develop mechanical maintenance personnel, including training and performance management.
  • Ensure safety compliance for all employees and contractors in the department.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and environmental practices.
  • Schedule and assign preventative and predictive maintenance tasks.
  • Manage inventory of spares and critical spares according to site business plan.
  • Prepare departmental reports for internal distribution.
  • Supervise construction, installation, modification, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment.
  • Recommend and implement measures to improve production methods and equipment performance.
  • Work cooperatively with other departments and vendors to meet plant objectives.
  • Maintain and manage equipment file system including mechanical drawings and vendor manuals.
  • 5+ years' predictive/preventative maintenance systems experience.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or lead experience.
  • Knowledge of plant equipment, operations, and predictive/preventative maintenance systems.
  • Knowledge of continuous operation manufacturing processes and improvement processes.
  • Knowledge of safety, health, and environmental rules and applicable LP Programs.
  • Ability to use computer and supporting software for communication and analytical functions.
  • Proven budgeting and financial analysis skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Associate's degree/Technical Diploma or vocational certificate preferred.
  • Interprovincial Red Seal in a related field preferred (Canada).
