SummarySupervises and directs the daily activities and tasks associated with Chemistry Operations at the unit level by providing leadership, technical direction and or assistance in the administration and maintenance of the Chemistry Program.

Requirements

A four-year Bachelors degree in Chemistry or other job-related field from an accredited college or university plus four (4) years of operational chemistry experience.
Or, High School/GED plus two (2) years job-related technical training and six (6) years of operational chemistry experience.
Or, Navy Nuclear Power Training plus five (5) years experience in chemistry or science related positions of which one (1) year must be job-related technical training. (Chemistry experience must include the application of chemistry, radiochemistry, radiological monitoring.)
Must have thorough knowledge of plant system inter-relationships. (This requirement exceeds ANSI/ANS 3.1 1978 sections 4.3.2.)
Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.
This is a condition of employment at PVNGS.
Roles and Responsibilities defined in Policy 1503 and implementing policy guide are applicable to all PVNGS employees.
Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage.
This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.
This position may require access to and/or use of information subject to control under the Department of Energys Part 810 Regulations (10 CFR Part 810), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) (15 CFR Parts 730 through 774), or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR Chapter I, Subchapter M Part 120 ) (collectively, U.S. Export Control Laws).
Therefore, this position requires applicants to be a U.S. person, which is defined as a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), a Political Ashlee, or a Refugee under the U.S. Export Control Laws. All applicants for this position will be required to confirm their U.S. person status.

Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
Any PVGS employees may be called upon for random Fitness for Duty (FFD) testing during scheduled working hours. Employees, if off-site, must report to FFD at Palo Verde as soon as reasonably practicable, but no more than 120 minutes after being notified. Employees who are onsite when notified will have no more than 60 minutes to report after being notified.

Responsibilities

Responsible for, and single point of contact of, the Chemistry Program at the unit level.
Implements and monitors the chemistry control and lay-up program to ensure corrosion of plant systems is minimized.
Monitors analytical chemistry/radiochemistry data.
Interfaces with chemistry operations advisors for data trend analysis and recommendations.
Directs necessary preventative/corrective actions.
Actively participates in training program development; supports the training requirements for the Chemistry Department; and ensures staff training requirements are met.
Responsible for staffing, salary administration and performance management of personnel.
Provides technical assistance and support related to chemistry issues by maintaining current and readily accessible plant chemistry data, system status and related records to support station operation.
Establishes effective communications with all internal and external customers and/or organizations.
Monitors expenditures to ensure costs are controlled within budget limitations.
Establishes and effectively communicates safety goals to ensure goals are met and/or exceeded.
