The mission of GWU Hospital is to provide the highest quality of healthcare, advanced medical technology, and world class service to its patients in an academic medical center dedicated to education and research Supervisor of Admissions/Patient Access We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Financial Counselor to join our Admitting Department. This role requires prior authorization experience. In this role, you will work directly with patients to explain financial responsibilities, verify insurance coverage, obtain and validate prior authorizations, and collect point-of-service payments. You will play a key role in supporting patients through the financial aspects of their healthcare experience while contributing to the organization’s revenue cycle performance. Requirements

Bachelor's Degree
Minimum of 3 years progressive experience as a supervisor of patient access in an acute care setting
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Effective interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities
Working knowledge of managed care (i.e. Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross, Champus and all related federal and state regulations and requirements)
Knowledge of government and insurance payers admission and billing regulations
Ability to learn and work with various computer software programs as well as the ability to manage software projects
Knowledge of Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

Masters degree in related field preferred
