About The Position

Supreme Court Chief Justice Elect Debra Stephens is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Judicial Assistant. This position provides a wide variety of administrative staff assistance to various judicial related organizations and performs administrative work in the office of the Chief Justice. Reporting to the Judicial Administrative Assistant in the Office of the Chief Justice, this position works under general supervision in the performance of a wide range of administrative duties. Interacts regularly with judicial committees and court associations.

Requirements

  • Associate of Arts degree in business administration, secretarial science, or related field.
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible clerical/secretarial experience, two (2) years of which must have been in a legal or court environment, with a demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Word processing experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Circulates judicial opinions and maintains circulation records.
  • Keeps accurate record of case assignments for each court term; organizes, coordinates, and checks the accuracy of confidential data relating to the status and circulation of judicial opinions.
  • Observes flow of circulation, calling attention to deadlines; maintains statistical data and compiles weekly and monthly reports on circulation of opinions; develops and maintains circulation computer records and prepares ad hoc reports as requested.
  • Composes and prepares memoranda and folders for opinion circulation; initiates correspondence and confers with pro tempore judges relating to opinion matters.
  • Assists in development of internal court procedures necessary for implementing programs.
  • Maintains information and data on committee appointments and assignments made by the Chief Justice; maintains files of committee reports and action; assembles and summarizes information and data for use by the Chief Justice; drafts related correspondence as requested by the Chief Justice or their Judicial Administrative Assistant.
  • At Chief Justice's request, arranges all aspects of official court receptions and group meetings; oversees and coordinates use of reception room; oversees robe room; coordinates the Justices' coffee fund.
  • Answers correspondence and telephone requests for information assistance as requested by Chief Justice or their Judicial Administrative Assistant.
  • Assists the Judicial Administrative Assistant to the Chief Justice with tasks as necessary, including correspondence, memoranda and reports.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Benefits

  • Regular, Full-Time position.
  • Salary Range 54: $58,380 - $76,608 per year (DOQ).
  • Eligible to telework up to two (2) days per week.
