Job Description: The Supported Employment Program provides opportunities and assistance for people with disabilities to find, maintain, and retain competitive integrated employment. This position works with consumers receiving funding through Vocational Rehabilitation and the Agency For Persons with Disabilities; providing services in accordance with the parameters set forth by both agencies. This position is a dual role where the employment specialist is the onsite employment coach for one of the community transition programs throughout the school year; while also providing employment services to a caseload of consumers in the community and acting as a back up to the other employment specialists as needed. This position collaborates with the host community transition program to develop jobs at the site, job coaching with the student interns to learn the jobs, assessing skills, and completing the necessary paperwork in a timely manner for Vocational Rehabilitation. The position also assists individuals with disabilities in obtaining, maintaining and advancing in community paid employment that is consistent with their vocational goals. Duties include getting to know people and their interests, assisting with resumes and job applications, approaching perspective employers to hire individuals, support during interviews, assistance during hiring, on the job training, job development, and working within the approved systems for case documentation. This position also maintains excellent communication with the consumer, the referring agency, family, guardian, and other involved parties. This position must secure job performance feedback from employer and make appropriate adjustments to an individual’s employment plan to enhance job performance. This position requires a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the consumer.
