About the position

The Support Technician will provide direct technical support to plant floor users, focusing on troubleshooting computer systems and resolving technical issues to minimize production downtime. This role serves as the primary IT contact for the production assembly department, ensuring efficient operation of key systems and supporting ongoing technology projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-the-ground support for plant floor users, diagnosing and troubleshooting issues with Tier 1 production-critical systems and equipment.
  • Follow documented processes to diagnose issues and return systems to normal operation quickly, escalating unresolved issues as needed.
  • Work closely with plant floor clients and end-users to understand production processes, identify issues, and deliver solutions.
  • Review and respond to alerts and issues reported by monitoring systems to ensure the stability and reliability of critical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to printers, scan guns, desktop PCs, laptops, and handheld devices.
  • Assist with IT-related projects, including technology upgrades and the implementation of new systems for production and ancillary departments.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for support processes, troubleshooting steps, and system configurations.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in a Level 1 IT support role, including supporting desktop applications, end-user computing devices, and basic network troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with supporting Windows 7/10, Active Directory, LAN/Networking.
  • Experience with Microsoft-Office and problem ticketing applications.
  • Basic experience in an AIX/UNIX environment.
  • Prior experience in hardware troubleshooting, including printers, desktop PCs, laptops, and handheld devices.
  • Strong understanding of IT support processes and procedures.
  • Experience working with monitoring systems for IT infrastructure and identifying system alerts/issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with functional systems like Phoenix Line Control is a plus.
