About The Position

The Support Tech II position at St. Elizabeth Healthcare involves providing direct and indirect patient care to support the Surgery unit under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN). Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficient literacy skills.
• BLS Certification.
• 1 year of experience in a Perioperative Support Tech role, CNA, or similar healthcare experience.
• Knowledge of sterile technique and patient prepping for operative procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care as directed by the RN.
• Transport patients and blood products as needed.
• Assist with preoperative patient hair removal per surgeon preference.
• Perform environmental cleaning specific to the designated unit, including cleaning between surgical procedures.
• Open sterile supplies and trays as directed by the RN.
• Assist with sterile prepping and positioning of patients for procedures.
• Act as a member of the Turnover Team, facilitating quick progression of surgical cases.
• Return instruments to trays and prepare case carts for transport to decontamination after procedures.
• Maintain cleaning supplies and unit-specific equipment/supplies.
