About The Position

Maintaining the strictest standard of confidentiality, the Support Specialist works as part of a multi-disciplinary team responding to child, vulnerable adults, and their families when sexual abuse and/or physical abuse has been alleged. The Support Specialist is responsible for providing assistance and information about available resources and CRCAC services to the individuals, families, youth, and community members who contact the CRCAC. The Support Specialist stays with the family while individuals receive CRCAC services. This position also assists, when directed, with center events, program and participant documentation and reporting, and working with the Program Manager to meet overall program goals and objectives.

Requirements

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must demonstrate intermediate computer skills for word processing, database management and excel spreadsheets.
Strong written and verbal skills are required.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Must pass Washington State DSHS criminal history and CPS background inquiry before hire and every two years unless otherwise indicated
Must have and maintain a valid and unrestricted Washington State driver’s license and proof of insurance. Driver’s License restrictions must not prohibit an employee from complying with the Tribe’s Vehicle Use Policy or operating GSA vehicles.
Must pass an FBI fingerprint background check upon employment.
Willing to attend trainings for professional development.
Mandated Reporting training must obtain within the first 30-days of hire.
Complete 30+ hours of sexual assault training (provided by CRCAC or other approved training) within the first 6-months of hire.
Must maintain at least 12-hours of ongoing training annually that is approved by CRCAC.
Attend monthly meetings and trainings with staff as needed.
Commit to an individual training and development plan with your supervisor that centers on cultural sensitivity, community diversity, equity, access, and inclusion concepts and practices relevant to your position and your representation of the community and clients we serve within the first 90-days of hire.
Work collaboratively and respectfully with clients, families, community, and Puyallup Tribal staff members contacting the center.
Must be willing to attend training, state and federal, following grant requirements.
Must be willing to learn child protection and law enforcement child abuse investigation procedures, and the ability to communicate and function within these systems.
Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
Strong knowledge of Native American culture and issues facing Native Americans.
Ability to maintain empathetic listening skills even when dealing with people who are upset or emotional.
Must ensure strict confidentiality of agency and client information.
Ability to work in a stressful job environment with difficult subject matter and keep emotions in check.
Sensitive to and familiar with the social/cultural needs of Tribal children and their families.
Must maintain a strict level of confidentiality at all times.

Responsibilities

Being available during open hours to provide a welcoming greeting and helpful response to those who contact the CRCAC.
Providing information and navigation to services, including during crisis and emergency situations, for those who contact the CRCAC assisting them in person and by the phone.
Help participants to utilize CRCAC resources, including appointment scheduling, basic documentation and signatures for services.
Establish positive, supportive relationships with participants, so that they might sit with children and families while they are being provided services such as Advocacy, Therapy, or Forensic Interviews.
Providing backup transportation for clients to ensure access to CRCAC services.
Continuously expand knowledge and understanding of community resources and programs provided by the Puyallup Tribe and local area.
Demonstrate and encourage awareness and sensitivity in the delivery of client services as it relates to child victims of crime.
Strict adherence to HIPPA guidelines and organizational policies.
Support with the CRCAC services in collaboration with CRCAC staff, and as directed by the Program Manager.
Assist Program manager with the research compilation and preparation of complete and accurate reports, correspondence, or other information.
Ensure efficient and timely collection and use of data and other information for continuous quality improvement and program evaluation, including the input of data into databases and other appropriate tracking systems.
Work with Program Manager to input financial documentation to ensure immediate services and resources for clients.
Schedules MDT meetings with dedicated police investigators and prosecutors to support the investigation and handling of cases of child abuse or neglect in a way that limits additional trauma to the child victim.
