This is a Part-time position that can't exceed more than 29 hours weekly. The position is ineligible for benefits. Applicant must reside in the following Counties or be willing to relocate: CHATHAM, BRYAN, EFFINGHAM, GLYNN, LIBERTY, MCINTOSH.

Requirements

• Familiar with insect identification (i.e. Master Gardener, etc.) or beekeeping experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to use a smartphone and apps.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of the Journeyman level of a master beekeeper program.
• Master Gardener certification.
• Bachelor of Science in entomology, zoology, or a related field.
• Documented experience working in Plant Protection or related agency.

Responsibilities

• Deploy approved monitoring traps for Yellow-Legged Hornet Eradication.
• Enter monitoring trap information into Plant Protection's Survey 123 software (or other approved software).
• Check monitoring traps as directed by supervisor, approximately once per week, from June until mid-December.
• Change the bait/lure each time the monitoring trap is checked or as directed.
• Re-deploy traps if the original trap is damaged, missing, or otherwise needs replacement.
• Enter the correct information into Survey 123 when checking monitoring traps.
• Notify supervisor when yellow-legged hornets are found in a monitoring trap.
• Assist other department personnel in nest location activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
