About The Position

You will serve as a SUPPORT SERVICES TECHNICIAN in the San Diego Detachment of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING BATH. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining various computer databases to support activities associated with inspections, quality deficiencies, and other management processes as assigned. You will also provide database training and application support to all users at the detachment, develop user manuals, and assist with the development of user accounts and requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree.
  • Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree.
  • Possession of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to this position.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain various computer databases to support activities associated with inspections, quality deficiencies, and other management processes.
  • Maintain database background tables, including user profiles and rights account and password re-sets.
  • Provide database training and application support to all users at the detachment.
  • Define and track internal performance metrics.
  • Administer web-based databases based on locally established business rules.
  • Develop methods of auditing the system functionality and data to ensure accuracy.
  • Review issues presented by system users to determine cause or source of the issue.
  • Use TSM and local databases to collect, interpret and analyze both internal operations and shipbuilder production.
  • Coordinate daily callout notifications from the shipbuilder.
  • Receive and process test related Contract Data Requirement documents (CDRL).
  • Select and prepare process metrics and status reports.
  • Lead or assist with trial card management.
  • Perform customer service 'help desk' duties providing technical assistance.
  • Provide formal or informal training and make improvements.
  • Make recommendations on changes and/or purchases of computer hardware.
  • Manage the detachment's equipment and services.
  • Receive and coordinate visitor requests and checks in visitors and new personnel.
