This job communicates with ancillary and nursing units receiving schedules for patient's appointments. This job supervises and dispatches transporters to get hospital patients to scheduled appointments on time To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Supervises, trains and develops department staff.
  • Dispatches Escorts & Orderly Escorts to transport patients in a timely manner.
  • Prepares bi-weekly work schedule for escort department.
  • Transports patient when needed.
  • Orders supplies & maintains equipment.
  • Conducts personal and escort employee’s development and required training.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.

  • Education Required - High School diploma or equivalent
  • Work Experience Required - 1 year experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Positive interpersonal skills necessary in order to deal effectively and courteously with nursing unit's personnel, ancillary departments and doctors.
  • Basic analytical skills necessary in order to maintain simple logs, records, and list of such items as incoming and outgoing calls to various areas.
  • Must be able to move and lift objects weighing up to 350 lbs. Mechanical lifting devices (carts, dollies, etc.) or team lifts should be utilized.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, reach and grab with arms and hands, manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities.
  • Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.
  • There is no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
  • Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
