Genesee Lake School , a MyPath Company, provides residential, educational, and community-based services for children and young adults with emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. Our mission is to promote growth, independence, and a high quality of life for the individuals we serve. Job Summary: We are currently seeking a Support Professional to provide direct care, academic support, and positive engagement for students throughout school and program settings. This year-round position supports students during classroom hours Monday–Friday and transitions to program support during non-school days (such as spring/winter breaks and early release days). The Support Professional plays a critical role in promoting student safety, participation, skill-building, and overall development across school, residential, and community settings.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Education, or related field preferred
Minimum 1 year of experience working in an educational setting serving students with disabilities
Ability to maintain a calm and effective demeanor in emergency and stressful situations.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver high-quality care.
Ability to effectively implement approved physical intervention techniques.
Must be at least 21 years old
Must possess a valid Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record.
Willingness to work with residents in a variety of settings, including community outings

Responsibilities

Program & Student Life Support
Supervise and engage students in living, activity, and community settings
Support daily living skills including hygiene, recreation, budgeting, and social skills
Model and reinforce positive behavior in accordance with each student’s ITP and IEP
Complete required documentation (incident reports, data sheets, shift summaries, etc.)
Promote health and safety by enforcing site procedures and maintaining a clean environment.
Classroom Support
Assist classroom teachers with instructional and behavioral support
Follow lesson plans and IEP accommodations/modifications as directed
Use assistive and adaptive devices to enhance student learning
Collect and document academic and behavioral data
Provide one-on-one or small group support to foster academic and social development
Help implement virtual learning when applicable
Team Collaboration & Professional Conduct
Communicate effectively with education, clinical, and program staff
Participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development
Use safe and approved de-escalation techniques when necessary
Uphold MyPath's values through respectful, proactive, and collaborative conduct
