Student & Campus Life (SCL) inspires transformation in all Cornell students on their journey of individual, academic and personal evolution. Our division is comprised of leading student affairs experts who support our campus on pressing student life matters including public service, health, wellbeing, connection and belonging, residential living, food services, sports, recreation, career services, and student activities and organizations including sorority and fraternity life. We provide support and services to roughly 25,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students on multiple campuses in the U.S. and abroad. Campus Life Enterprise Services (CLES) is the primary revenue-generating unit within Student and Campus Life. As a part of the larger CLES unit, and within Residential and Event Services (RES), the Student Center Facilities Support Team is responsible for the intensive and detailed custodial maintenance, event support and audio-visual (AV) support of Cornell’s Student Centers, and other assigned area(s). The Student Centers are active hubs around campus that allow students, and other members of the community, a way to experience Cornell’s thriving social scene by providing a great place to meet people, grab a bite to eat, or find a place to study. This team is driven by a passion for attention to details in order to provide an excellent customer experience. The Support Custodian SO-02 ensures the cleanliness and operational readiness of key public use areas; including lobbies, offices, classrooms, conference rooms, dining halls, restrooms, and other assigned community use facility spaces. Ensuring that our building users, visitors, and customers are able to enjoy clean and well-maintained community spaces is critical to the overall success of our business model, and the Support Custodian plays an essential role in assessing custodial maintenance needs and executing tasks that ensure that our high standards are consistently met. A successful SO-02 Support Custodian will regularly demonstrate effective interpersonal and customer services skills to effectively and clearly communicate with a variety of building guests and students. Consistently and effectively performing both highly-detailed and labor-intensive custodial support tasks will be indicators of success in the role. The successful support custodian will also demonstrate the ability to be creative and flexible at all times as schedules, shifts, locations, and daily tasks change rapidly to support special events or unforeseen circumstances. This job posting is for multiple positions. Location and schedule assignments will be based on business needs and include varying shifts. Position(s) may require nights/weekends/holiday coverage based on business needs. While position responsibilities vary, every member of our community is expected to foster a culture of belonging and a healthy work environment by communicating across differences; being cooperative, collaborative, open, and welcoming; showing respect, compassion, and empathy; engaging and supporting others regardless of background or perspective; speaking up when others are being excluded or treated inappropriately; and supporting work/life integration of oneself and others.
