About The Position

We are looking for someone who can do days or mids shifts. This position works under the supervision of Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager/Director in personal care of the patients and their environment (including those needing special precautions) and performs specified functions in tasks where there is validated competency including: simple wound care (i.e. cleaning of abrasions/laceration), EKGs, peripheral INT removal, basic phlebotomy, and extremity splinting. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide the care needed as described according to the departmental policy and procedure. Promotes and maintains a safe work environment for staff as well as our customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
• 1 year prior health care experience in hospital setting (Preferred)
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Virginia Department of Health Professions Upon Hire (Required)
• EMT-B (Basic), Virginia Department of Health Professions or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Upon Hire (Required)
• Medical Assistant Program Graduate Upon Hire (Required)
• Currently enrolled in LPN or RN Nursing diploma or degree program with 80 hours completed Upon Hire (Required)
• BLS required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of the technology systems necessary for patient data collection into EMR.
• Follows plan of care to include performing treatments and procedures competently/independently under direction of RN.
• Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
• Ensures availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes.
• Maintains clean, safe and orderly work/patient environment by cleaning work stations/areas, equipment; stocking supplies; placing equipment in proper storage areas.
• Takes direction from the charge nurse to help admit, discharge, or transfer patients in a timely and efficient manner.
