About The Position

The Supply Technician position at the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service involves managing the receipt, identification, preparation, distribution, and storage of various laboratory samples. Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Satisfactory background investigation and/or fingerprint check required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as walking, bending, and standing.

• Experience in laboratory environments or similar settings.
• Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Responsibilities

• Receive, identify, prepare, distribute, and store monitoring and compliance samples.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of incoming samples to maintain legal integrity.
• Distribute target tissues to appropriate laboratory sections and maintain control of samples for multiple disciplines.
• Maintain inventory and distribute shipping supplies and sampling kits as needed.
• Prepare sample boxes for return to inspectors and restock supplies.
• Process documentation and input items into the laboratory inventory database.
• Maintain shipping databases for contract carriers and ensure timely shipment of supplies.
• Enter information related to receipt and shipment of supplies into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Ensure compliance with warehouse safety rules and regulations governing hazardous waste.
• Determine chain of custody requirements for legal samples and maintain necessary documentation.
