About The Position

The Supply Technician - Medical position at the Department of Veterans Affairs involves managing the distribution of medical supplies within the Medical Supply Distribution areas of Logistics Service. This role is crucial for ensuring that various hospital facilities, including wards and operating rooms, are adequately stocked with necessary medical materials, both sterile and non-sterile. The technician will be responsible for inventory management, supply delivery, and maintaining records related to stock levels.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal service, or education above high school, or a combination of both.
  • Ability to perform duties related to supply management and inventory control.

  • Familiarity with bar coding and inventory management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Pull stock inventory and material for delivery.
  • Replenish stock inventory and maintain records on stock levels.
  • Interact with clinical and administrative customers regarding supplies.
  • Monitor expiration dates and rotate stock to limit outdates.
  • Remove items from use as required by outdates.
  • Perform daily inventory using bar coding equipment.
  • Resolve discrepancies between records and physical counts of stock.
  • Distribute items according to established requirements in computerized inventory management systems.
  • Deliver supplies in a timely manner, ensuring they are in sterile and operational condition.
  • Complete specialty cart preparation.
  • Clean assigned secondary areas in accordance with aseptic principles.
  • Receive supplies and material into the medical center's catchment area.
