Job Description The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a full-time Supply Technician 1 to work for the Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) department. As part of the EH&S campus chemical inventory program, the Supply Technician will be responsible for identifying and handling boxes containing chemicals, opening boxes with chemicals, re-packaging chemicals into original shipping boxes and safely delivering chemical packages directly to customers on campus. The Supply Technician conducts physical chemical inventories of buildings, laboratories, and workspaces that house chemicals. Additionally, the Supply Technician is responsible for completing data entry activities as directed by the Manager, Chemical Management Services (MCMS). The Supply Technician is also responsible for maintaining the EH&S space in Central Receiving warehouse, maintaining the EH&S vehicles used by the inventory team, and other inventory related duties as needed and as time allows. The successful applicants will possess skills essential to this position such as the ability to perform routine work according to set procedures and sequence, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others, read and understand instructions, forms, and other pertinent materials, complete standard forms, lift and move heavy packages, and communicate effectively with others in person and on the telephone. The successful applicant will also have general knowledge of basic computer functions, calculator functions, and keyboarding techniques. Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of stocking, storeroom or warehouse experience which included maintaining inventory records, inventory storage and handling, shipping and receiving materials and equipment, and/or ordering supplies, equipment and materials; OR One year of experience as a Supply Assistant in Nevada State service; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
  • Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
  • A valid Class “C” driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
