About The Position

Supply Specialist 2 (Salem) Central Distribution Center – Salem, Oregon Oregon Department of Corrections The Oregon Department of Corrections is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Supply Specialist 2 to join our Distribution Services team. This role plays a vital part in maintaining the flow of essential materials that support institutional operations and the daily needs of adults in custody (AICs). About the Job – Your Role In this role, you will oversee and coordinate daily warehouse and commissary operations. Your responsibilities will include: Supply & Inventory Management: Order, receive, store, issue, and track a wide range of supplies – including food, clothing, sanitation items, maintenance materials, and commissary product using advanced systems like AFAMIS and ELITE. Computerized & Physical Inventory Control: Conduct regular cycle counts, annual inventories, and special audits to ensure accuracy, accountability, and compliance with DOC standards. AIC Order Processing & Commissary Support: Oversee AIC work crews who fill commissary orders. Verify item accuracy, ensure trust account sufficiency, and deliver completed orders within the institution. Warehouse Operations & Supervision: Lead AIC workers in fulfilling supply requests, preparing shipments, rotating stock, loading and unloading deliveries, and maintaining clean, safe work areas. Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and delivery vehicles. Customer & Vendor Interaction: Communicate regularly with staff, vendors, freight companies, purchasing agents, and other DOC units to resolve order discrepancies, coordinate deliveries, and maintain business continuity. Safety & Security: Promote safe warehouse practices, report concerns, maintain compliance with DOC policies, and supervise AIC workers in accordance with security protocols. Cross‑Training & Backup Support: You will be cross trained to support both Commissary and Warehouse operations as needed.

Requirements

  • Three years of stocking, storeroom or warehouse experience which included purchasing a variety of supplies, equipment or materials, maintaining inventory records, and shipping and receiving materials and equipment
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • Skilled in AFAMIS, ELITE, or similar inventory systems, with strong computer skills and proficiency in email, Word, and Excel
  • Prior warehouse or commissary experience in a correctional or secure facility
  • Experience assigning tasks, overseeing staff, ensuring accurate completion of work and training work crews
  • Strong troubleshooting skills related to shipments, vendor issues, and inventory discrepancies
  • Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment
  • Proven ability to maintain accurate records and follow audit‑ready procedures
  • Strong communication skills when working with vendors, staff, and customers
  • Physical ability to perform daily heavy lifting and load/unload shipments, including during inclement weather
