We are currently seeking Supply Chain Specialists to support our mission to be a premier integrated academic health system. Our goal is to serve a broad community and provide the best in medicine—including breakthrough treatments and clinical trials—through our affiliation with Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. We offer a variety of schedules, including full time (40 hours per week) Day and Evening shifts: 2 openings from 3 AM to 11:30 AM, 2 openings from 6 AM to 2:30 PM, and 1 opening from 2 PM to 10:30 PM. The positions require one weekend shift per week (either Saturday or Sunday) from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; or in lieu of high school diploma/GED, must have a minimum of two years of relevant work experience.
  • Must exhibit the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and staff.
  • Computer literate - ability to learn various programs.
  • Must be able to work independently and respond quickly under pressure when problems arise.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to think critically.
  • Physical demands required for this role include lift/carry 50+ pounds and a push/pull force 50+ pounds.
  • Extensive walking and walking time of 5+ hours per day.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years' work experience in a hospital or healthcare environment.
  • Associates degree in related field.

Responsibilities

  • Follows standard work and methodologies around inventory, receiving, equipment, linen and mail.
  • Utilizes standard processes within WaveMark and PeopleSoft to maintain data integrity.
  • Utilizes problem solving skills to resolve noncomplex situations involving technology, customers, staff, and other supply chain management personnel: consults with SC Leadership for guidance as needed.
  • Performs daily activity to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Assists with special projects as required.
  • Ensures support of MDI and daily huddles.
  • Orders and delivers supplies and/or linen to user areas based on par level.
  • Identifies stock shortages and notify management.
  • Conducts routine audits of supplies, linen, and equipment to ensure inventory accuracy, compliance with par levels, and proper usage.
  • Identifies and documents discrepancies, expirations, shortages, or overstock; communicates findings to management and supports corrective actions.
  • Answers incoming calls from users identifying supply needs.
  • Maintains work area to ensure a clean and safe environment.
  • Promotes safety in the workplace, following proper lifting and pushing/pulling techniques and utilizing equipment correctly.
  • Notifies supervisor of equipment needing repairs.
  • Reports all safety hazards to manager.
  • Communicates to supervisor any issues, including inability to complete schedule and is proactive in dealing with observed deficiencies.
  • Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with hospital personnel, while assuring confidentiality of patient information.
  • Use organizational and unit/department resources efficiently.
  • Manages work schedule efficiently, completing tasks and assignments on time.
  • Contributes to opportunities and processes for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in efforts to reduce costs, streamline work processes, improve and grow the services we provide.
  • Presents a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor and appearance.
