Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics and Global Services supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers. Our teams work together in critical areas that leverage digital capabilities, technology and operational excellence. The Supply Chain Planning Engineer serves as the aftermarket account manager and key partner for the critical interplant facilities within the Aftermarket Parts Supply team. This role partners closely with interplant suppliers and cross-functional teams to drive supply continuity, optimize lead times and execute recovery plans when supply risks arise. This role also acts as project lead to identify and improve opportunities to support material availability for dealers and customers.

Requirements

  • Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree preferably in supply chain, engineering, or logistics.
  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Cross-Team Integration: Understanding of the importance of inter-team collaboration in breaking down silos and achieving business results; ability to lead employees from various functions to communicate, coordinate work across divisions, and collaborate in solving problems as one team.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Supply Chain Management - MFG: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and use, strategies, practices and tools for controlling the logistical processes.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of Supply chain experience
  • APICS certification
  • Strong collaborative, interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with process partners
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross-functional initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with interplant suppliers to monitor capacity, constraints and shipping performance.
  • Lead supplier recovery efforts, including root cause analysis, action planning and progress tracking to restore stable supply.
  • Drive projects to enhance assurance of supply and drive efficiencies with existing processes.
  • Support development of supply plans, risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams to scope, align and implement improvement opportunities.
