About The Position

The Role As a member of the Supply Chain Tactical Operations team, you will deal with short-term capacity issues caused by broken tools or equipment, fires, floods, and any other supplier shortage issues. You will travel to suppliers to resolve supply chain issues, creating risk for GM manufacturing facilities. What You’ll Do Act as a liaison between purchasing, engineering, warehousing/manufacturing, logistics and suppliers to resolve issues and to provide support Working cross-functionally with Purchasing, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Containerization, Logistics and GM assembly / manufacturing plants to facilitate critical supply issues and business transfers. Determine the cause of supplier delivery problems and coordinate/implement effective and timely resolutions Help assess and assist in the development and implementation of corrective actions for critical issues Improve delivery performance of suppliers by identifying process improvements and lead time reduction opportunities Regularly exchange information with others inside and outside the work group including GM and supplier facilities Work with Supplier Risk Management team with Financially Troubled Suppliers Support / Lead conference calls with business transfers and critical supply issues Keep management updated frequently, consistent with the issue’s urgency Provide Executive reports Develop the most efficient ways to utilize people, machines, materials, and information at supplier locations Assist supplier operations to increase productivity Resolve operational problems Study and rearrange material flow, and operations sequence Standardize common floor processes Designs, redesigns, or enhances work areas and layouts so that awkward or uncomfortable positions, repetitive motions, and inefficient operations are reduced or eliminated Identifies and assesses various problems and departures from established manufacturing standards and best practices; recommends solutions Implement methods and modifications to reduce production costs

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 1+ years relevant work experience in supply chain, manufacturing, or military.
  • Ability to travel spontaneously 70-80% domestically/Internationally at Suppliers.
  • Proficient level of computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office products, Teamcenter Visualization)

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in engineering, supply chain management, Business or related advanced degree a plus
  • 3+ years of experience in Automotive Manufacturing Operations.
  • 1+ years of experience in die casting or machining operations.
  • Excellent communication and command skills are necessary to be successful in this position.
  • Broad understanding of propulsion technologies, including battery, motor, hybrid solutions, BEV, Fuel Cell, ICE engines, automatic transmissions.
  • Demonstrate excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and suppliers to solve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and significantly complex cases and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results.
