About The Position

The Procurement Manager is responsible for overseeing strategic sourcing and purchasing operations in support of aerospace manufacturing. This role ensures the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, components, and services, while maintaining compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements (FAR/DFARS), and customer specifications. The Procurement Manager drives supplier performance, manages risk, and leads initiatives to improve cost, quality, and delivery across the supply base.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5–7 years of supply chain management experience
  • Strong understanding of aerospace supply chain requirements, industry standards (AS9100, ITAR), and regulatory compliance (FAR/DFARS).
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (EPICOR preferred).
  • Proven negotiation skills and experience managing high-value contracts and supplier relationships.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of materials and processes commonly used in aerospace manufacturing (e.g., titanium, aluminum, composites, special processes).
  • Strong Leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to support production schedules, customer demand, and inventory objectives.
  • Source and procure aerospace-grade raw materials, components, and services that meet quality and certification requirements (e.g., AS9100, ITAR).
  • Lead contract negotiations and long-term agreements with key suppliers to ensure best value, terms, and delivery performance.
  • Maintain compliance with federal acquisition regulations (FAR/DFARS), government contracting requirements, and internal audit protocols (DCAA).
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure procurement aligns with product specifications and lead time requirements.
  • Evaluate and manage supplier performance through scorecards, audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor market conditions, risks, and lead times to proactively mitigate supply chain disruptions.
  • Oversee and mentor a team of buyers, providing training, performance feedback, and development support.
  • Manage ERP/MRP system data related to purchasing, supplier records, and inventory transactions (e.g., EPICOR, SAP).
  • Support cost reduction and supply chain optimization initiatives through strategic sourcing and lean principles.
  • Responsible for ensuring on time deliveries and inventory turns
  • Responsible for supply chain for four unique value streams spread across four locations in Connecticut
