This position provides oversight of the supply chain operations on behalf of Medical Center Downtown (MCD) campus. Assure compliance with federal and state laws, regent and university policies and procedures, and operating at the highest standards of ethical conduct. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 - 5 years’ work experience within a supply management receiving, warehousing, and distribution setting.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, specific experience using Excel, and electronic inventory management software.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 3 years’ experience working within a hospital or multi clinical healthcare setting.
  • Practical familiarity with medical product descriptions and their complementary accessories.
  • At least 3 years work experience in either a supervisory, work director, or team leader role.
  • Knowledge of HIPPA patient privacy guidelines and Joint Commission and Hospital Safety & Security recommendations pertaining to infection control practices and the safe storage and transport of hospital medical supplies
  • Knowledge of University of Iowa and Hospital Supply Chain compliances, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Proficiency with PeopleSoft software and Omnicell automated supply cabinets a plus

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and manage supply chain administrative and operational activities including fiscal and human resources management. Approve all procurement activities for the MCD hospital.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and determine strategic product direction in terms of hospital supplies. Approve product, pricing and contract specifications and quotations with vendors and end users in coordination with UI Purchasing. Develop and approve Processed Stores policies and procedures.
  • Set standards for policies and procedures for safe handling and distribution of products to assure a safe and effective operation. Set pricing philosophy (e.g., retail cost recovery). Approve market plan or strategy and oversee the implementation.
  • In partnership with UI Purchasing, analyze vendor performance, approve and negotiate contacts and resolve disputes. Plan for current and future needs. Evaluate supplier delivery and quality performance.
  • Recommend and approve changes in software specifications. Determine rules and implement policies and procedures for the management and analysis of data. For example, replace vendor distribution app with PeopleSoft.
  • Responsible for providing budgetary information supported by actual expenditures. Manage financial data and information for Processed Stores. May approve fiscal transactions.
  • Hire, develop and manage the performance of staff. Manage the procurement, supply chain process. Represent and negotiate outcomes on behalf of the department.
