About The Position

The Supply Chain (Technical Analytics) Intern role at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) is a paid, full-time, temporary position designed to help students develop a broad knowledge of the Company and build the OSJL brand. Specifically, this role focuses on the digital and analytical integration of the Manhattan Active Warehouse Management (MAWM) system. The role will aggregate complex data sets and apply Six Sigma methodologies to validate system performance and optimize logistics flow. By bridging the gap between physical operations and system functionality, the role ensures that the new MAWM is correctly configured and supported by real-time, fact-based reporting.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program is required, with strong academic credentials.
  • This project requires a student with strong analytical skills and an interest in Technical Analytics.
  • Experience using Microsoft Suite and the ability to learn and use Google platforms.
  • Ability to maintain focus on complex data sets and "heavy lifting" of analysis during a workload spike.
  • Ability to work a full-time schedule.
  • Must have reliable transportation to attend program educational experiences at different Company locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data visualization or analysis tools is highly relevant.

Responsibilities

  • Aggregate complex data sets to support operational decisions regarding inventory and logistics flow.
  • Analyze data to validate the data sets support key-decision making and also align with of the new MAWM system during the implementation phase.
  • Apply Six Sigma and lean methodologies to analyze processes and identify areas for optimization.
  • Provide leadership with fact-based data to support process refinements and technology needs that would support the critical system launch (MAWM).
  • Ensure that the process that is built physically is correctly reflected and functional within the MAWM system.
  • Collaborate with MIS and the Manhattan vendor to develop custom reports, specifically tracking metrics.
  • Prepare and deliver a final presentation to OSJL executive leadership and ownership at the conclusion of the program, summarizing key projects, insights, and achievements.
  • Participate in weekly educational programming and development workshops designed to enhance professional skills and industry knowledge.
  • Attend in-person and virtual events to build relationships across the Company.
  • Shadow associates to gain an understanding of department roles and assist with projects in furtherance of department objectives.
  • Acquire an understanding of the business environment, conduct, compliance, and ethics of a retail organization.
