About these Opportunities: 7-Eleven Inc. has several opportunities for Summer Internships. Each internship opportunity will occur during the summer months, (10-12 weeks), focused on a specific functional area, and will provide the candidate with a depth experience within the area, culminating in a project presentation to functional leaders. Each intern will work closely with a coach who will meet regularly to discuss project progress, provide direction and ongoing feedback. In addition, each intern will attend a lunch series which will provide a cross-functional view into the organization and give the interns exposure to senior leadership. The interns will also have the experience of touring a store and learning about our distribution systems. 7-Eleven is one of the world’s most recognized brands and one of America’s top convenience retailer serving customers at nearly 10,000 stores as well as online. But behind the customer experience is a complex, multifaceted organization that relies on innovative, effective supply chain management and distribution to make sure the right products make it to the right stores at the right time. 7-Eleven is seeking motivated and curious individuals to join our Supply Chain & Distribution Center Management Team. In this role, you'll contribute to the day-to-day operations of our supply chain network, learning how to apply technology and continuous improvement practices to drive efficiency and support team goals. The Data Sciences team is responsible for defining 7-Eleven Supply Chain future operating model across the full value chain from vendor to customer. This team is responsible for developing optimization, simulation, machine learning models and niche data science techniques to evaluate product flow from vendor to omnichannel distribution center and customer, across the first mile, middle mile and last mile, with focus on delivery speed, ensuring sufficient capacity for throughput and storage (via inventory modeling) in the network and improve operating efficiencies in omnichannel distribution and transportation across the network.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or another quantitative field, graduating May 2027
  • Familiarity with programming in SQL and Python
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment and willingness to learn from mentors and teammates.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a proactive, curious mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior academic or project experience in data science, machine learning, or supply chain analytics is preferred but not required.
  • exposure to Spark or Shell Script is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a foundational understanding of 7‑Eleven supply chain data and assist in gathering and performing preliminary analysis to understand the current state of the supply chain.
  • Support identifying patterns and potential business opportunities through exploratory data analysis.
  • Assist in the design, development, and testing of data science models and algorithms under guidance from senior team members.
  • Help evaluate analytical solutions and summarize their impact for ongoing initiatives.
  • Stay informed about analytical best practices and participate in discussions on choosing appropriate methods for business problems.
  • Break down components of moderately complex problems with direction from mentors and peers.
  • Prepare clear, concise summaries of analytical findings to share with peers, stakeholders, and cross‑functional partners.
  • Participate in internal analytics and technology forums to build domain knowledge and strengthen technical skills.
  • Manage assigned tasks with support from the team and contribute to delivering high‑quality work aligned with project needs.
  • Work with large datasets using tools such as Python, SQL, and data visualization libraries to support analysis and modeling.
  • Assist in defining analytical questions, gathering relevant data, and contributing to model development to support recommendations.
  • Support experiments and A/B tests designed to validate hypotheses and inform decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams across Planning, Design, Supply Chain, Merchandising, Finance, and Operations to explore data‑driven opportunities.
  • Contribute to a team culture that values learning, innovation, and inclusiveness.
  • Develop insights through data analysis and visualization to support stakeholder understanding and decision‑making efforts.
