Requirements

  • Applicants should have a high school diploma (required), some college preferred.
  • At least two years of purchasing experience preferred, with healthcare experience considered a plus.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and tact when interacting with coworkers, physicians, and patients.
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Proficiency in basic computer and data entry tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees hospital-wide materials management by forecasting inventory needs, placing and tracking orders for medical and office supplies, managing recalls and returns, and organizing storage locations.
  • Ensures accurate labeling and charge capture, coordinates purchase orders and packing slips for timely payment, and communicates proactively with leadership about inventory levels and special needs.
  • Identifies inventory needs across all hospital departments, orders supplies as needed, and processes returns of unused or misordered items in a timely manner.
  • Notifies leadership of recalled medical supplies and promptly removes affected items from clean supply rooms in accordance with established procedures.
  • Stocks, labels, and maintains medical and office supplies to ensure availability and accuracy.
  • Maintains and organizes all medical supply and office storage locations to promote efficiency and compliance.
  • Communicates regularly with leadership to ensure adequate inventory levels and escalates special inventory needs as appropriate.
  • Partners with clinical, purchasing, and finance teams to support uninterrupted patient care through reliable supply availability.
  • Follows organizational policies and vendor recall procedures; maintains accurate documentation and recordkeeping to support audit readiness.
  • Assists with periodic cycle counts and performs basic data entry in inventory or ERP systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
