About The Position

The Supply Chain Buyer is responsible for performing basic procurement duties that support the Supply Chain Management Department objectives and assist the Customer Program Manager. Downloads, reviews and processes purchase orders, opens sales orders for CPM accounts. Responsible for maintenance of customer portals, our system being aligned with the customers, correspondence to the customer from support staff, communicating and driving the needs of accounts for which the CPM is responsible.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures
  • Basic understanding of MRP systems and inventory control in an assembly environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with vendors, management, and co-workers
  • Ability to interface with technical and non-technical personnel
  • Working knowledge of analysis, supplier costs, manufacturing flow, and negotiation
  • Team oriented with strong leadership and coaching skills
  • Detail oriented with meticulous work habits and strong project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Willingness to apply hands-on approach in supporting customer activities and to step in when needed, not just observe
  • Strong ability to set priorities, solve problems, and be resourceful when under pressure
  • Comfort and experience interfacing with various levels of staff and management while working in a fast-paced environment
  • High School graduate or equivalent, one to three years related work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace experience
  • Familiarity of aerospace customer specification and documentation requirements is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all established quality management system procedures and work instructions as applicable
  • Comply with all company quality and safety standards
  • Assist Materials Buyer, Outside Processing Coordinator, and Manufacturing Support in purchasing and planning activities
  • Review material requirements or purchase requisitions and place purchase orders with appropriate suppliers.
  • Track open purchase orders, provide job status reports, and expedite deliveries as necessary
  • Interface and communication with suppliers to develop optimal business relationships and ensure suppliers meet performance expectations
  • Review customer forecasts, customer due dates for open jobs, and provide forecast visibility to supply base.
  • Prepare RFQ’s to appropriate suppliers, track quote status, and coordinate with the supply chain manager and estimating team for new business opportunities
  • Understand key drivers of cost in product purchased and where spend is affected
  • Participate in other duties as directed by management
  • Reviews incoming purchase orders from customers per contract review procedures.
  • Imports and reviews customer forecasts and opens jobs as needed for CPM accounts.
  • Correspondence of open issues with customer(s) as pertains to missing information, information that needs clarification, delivery issues, and day-to-day maintenance of the CPM accounts.
  • Entering in customer RFQ’s and assisting with the review process.
  • Maintenance of customer portal / websites.
