About The Position

The Supplier Quality Technician is responsible for maintaining the Supplier Quality Feedback Loop (QFL) issues, creating notifications with pictures of rejected parts, and communicating issues with suppliers in a timely manner. The role involves overseeing parts in the salvage area, initiating the returns process to suppliers, and performing dimensional and visual checks on non-conforming materials using various tools. The technician will also assist in root cause analyses, contact suppliers for part containment activities, and generate quality notifications in SAP. Additional responsibilities include interpreting complex drawings, performing supplier chargebacks, providing training, and promoting a compliance culture in line with the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and 2 years in a mechanical, engine or automotive trade school or equivalent Associates Degree; or 5 years of experience in a durable goods assembly or manufacturing environment.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship.

  • Achieve points for L4 in the SBP training matrix.
  • 1-year experience working in Quality/Supplier Quality or similar job functions within the last 3 months.
  • Advanced ability to interpret control plans, blueprints, and quality documents.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with torque equipment and standard measurement equipment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of GD&T methodology.
  • Independent critical thinking needed for accuracy in SAP transactions.
  • Intermediate knowledge of statistical process control methodology.
  • Intermediate knowledge in Quality/Supplier Quality SAP functions.
  • Intermediate blueprint reading skills with high attention to detail.
  • Intermediate knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.

  • Basic knowledge of Toyota KATA initiative.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull weights in the 20-60 lb. range.
  • Ability to operate large hoist systems and obtain appropriate power vehicle license.
  • Ability to work any shift and overtime as required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains Supplier QFL issues and creates notifications with pictures of the rejected part.
  • Communicates issues with suppliers in a timely manner.
  • Oversees parts in salvage area and begins the returns process to suppliers.
  • Initiates sort activity and performs dimensional/visual checks on non-conforming material.
  • Boroscopes engine critical components and performs dye penetrant tests.
  • Assists Production Quality with root cause analyses and PDCA cycles.
  • Contacts suppliers to initiate part containment activities.
  • Generates Quality notifications and lists details in SAP.
  • Requests corrective actions from suppliers using the 8D tool.
  • Communicates deviation notifications for defective parts.
  • Interprets GD&T on complex drawings and MTU specifications.
  • Performs supplier chargebacks for defective parts via SAP transactions.
  • Provides training to personnel as specified in departmental work instructions.
  • Closes open notifications in SAP after validating containment activities.
  • Performs dummy engine teardown during weekends.
  • Maintains on-the-job flexibility by providing support in quality, assembly, and other production-related areas.
  • Promotes a compliance culture in area of responsibility.
