About The Position

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for managing and improving the quality performance of suppliers who provide materials and services for PWBA/CCA production. The SQE will ensure suppliers meet all regulatory, contractual, and internal quality requirements, and drive corrective and preventive actions to mitigate risk. This role is critical in supporting the company's quality assurance initiatives and compliance with industry standards such as IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, AS9100, and AS9102.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in supplier quality engineering within the aerospace, defense, or space industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, AS9102, AS9100, and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Demonstrated experience with FAI (First Article Inspection), PFMEA, Control Plans, CAPA, and RCCA.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in quality systems (CQE, CQA, ASQ, or equivalent).
  • Experience with ITAR, NADCAP, and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARS).
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience working with CM/EMS environments for aerospace/defense customers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage supplier quality strategies aligned with company and customer requirements.
  • Conduct supplier audits, qualification assessments, and process evaluations.
  • Review and approve AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and perform on-site assessments for PWBA/CCA processes
  • Lead and support Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) and Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) activities.
  • Participate in PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) development and review.
  • Ensure supplier adherence to IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) and J-STD-001 (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies).
  • Manage supplier scorecards and performance metrics (PPM, OTD, SCARs).
  • Interface with internal teams (Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, Quality) to resolve quality issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement and lean quality practices within the supplier base.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards including AS9100D, ITAR, DFARS, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Lead Material Review Board (MRB) activities involving supplier-related nonconformances.
  • Support internal and external audits (e.g., customer, regulatory, and certification bodies).
  • Assist with companywide tasks.
