About The Position

Responsible for managing the current incoming material to ensure to conforms to Shawmut’s required specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (four-year degree) or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment; automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a supplier and/or customer-facing quality role.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience supporting APQP activities for new product launches within the automotive industry.
  • Working knowledge of AIAG standards or comparable quality system requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interface with customers, suppliers, and all levels of the organization. Experience working in an international environment is required.
  • Advanced computer proficiency, including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 quality management systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with VDA 6.3 auditing standards preferred, but not required.
  • Internal Process Auditor experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine supplier quality system audits to ensure compliance with established standards and requirements.
  • Evaluate and tour prospective supplier facilities to support supplier qualification and onboarding.
  • Support new program launches by monitoring and addressing supplier material performance.
  • Provide ongoing support to production operations by resolving supplier-related quality issues.
  • Facilitate the approval and documentation of boundary samples for materials not currently defined by specifications.
  • Coordinate internal laboratory testing as required.
  • Issue Supplier Quality Notifications (SQNs) and distribute defect samples to suppliers for analysis and corrective action.
  • Coordinate and host supplier on-site visits to address and disposition non-conforming material.
  • Partner with Accounting to secure credits for supplier-dispositioned material.
  • Lead negotiations related to supplier-attributed non-conforming material and associated costs.
  • Oversee and manage the disposition process for all supplier-rejected materials.
  • Generate sales orders and coordinate logistics for the return of non-conforming materials to suppliers.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Purchasing, Engineering, and Manufacturing to resolve deviations from specifications and quality standards.
  • Manage and fulfill data and documentation requests between the organization and supplier partners.
  • Lead supplier change request initiatives to ensure controlled and effective implementation.
  • Review-redact as necessary and manage supplier Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for customer distribution.
  • Issue, track, and verify supplier corrective actions through full closure and effectiveness validation.
  • Communicate supplier quality issues to Supplier Quality Technician for scorecard tracking and reporting.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supplier Quality Manager.
