The 1st Shift Supplier Quality Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring that all materials and components supplied meet the company's stringent quality standards and regulatory requirements. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to drive continuous improvement and resolve quality issues efficiently. The engineer will lead supplier audits, assess risk, and implement corrective actions to prevent defects and ensure product reliability. By collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including procurement, manufacturing, and engineering, this role ensures that supplier quality aligns with overall business objectives and customer expectations. Ultimately, the Supplier Quality Engineer contributes to the company's success by safeguarding product integrity and supporting operational excellence from the supply chain perspective.

  • Conduct supplier quality audits and assessments to evaluate compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to identify root causes of quality issues and develop effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review and approve supplier quality documentation including control plans, inspection reports, and process capability studies.
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and delivery.
  • Support new product development by qualifying new suppliers and ensuring their processes meet quality expectations.
  • Work cross-functionally with procurement, engineering, and manufacturing teams to resolve supplier-related quality concerns.
  • Lead investigations of supplier non-conformances and coordinate timely resolution to minimize production impact.
  • Maintain accurate records of supplier quality activities and prepare reports for management review.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in supplier quality engineering or a similar quality assurance role.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001 and industry-specific standards.
  • Experience with root cause analysis tools and corrective action processes.
  • Proficiency in using quality data analysis software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Certification such as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP).
  • Experience in automotive, aerospace, or manufacturing industries with complex supply chains.
  • Familiarity with advanced quality planning methodologies like APQP, PPAP, and FMEA.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and Six Sigma principles.
  • Strong project management skills and experience leading cross-functional teams.
