About The Position

The Supplier Quality Engineer will serve as a critical link between the Engineering and Supply Chain teams, ensuring that all sourced equipment meets technical specifications and aligns with project design requirements. This role will focus on quality assurance, supplier evaluation, and technical compliance to support the successful execution of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects. This role requires travel to domestic and international suppliers.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality engineering, supplier quality, or equipment compliance in manufacturing, industrial, or renewable energy settings.
  • Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and an ability to learn company-specific software programs, tools, processes, and machines.
  • Skills/Attributes: Ability to deeply understand and evaluate complex engineering specifications, material properties, and manufacturing processes to ensure equipment meets stringent quality standards.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management frameworks (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma) and experience implementing supplier quality programs, audits, and corrective action plans.
  • Proven capability to influence and align diverse stakeholders, including Engineering, Supply Chain, and external vendors, toward shared quality objectives.
  • Skilled in using data analysis tools and methodologies to identify trends, assess supplier performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear, actionable guidance for both technical and non-technical audiences, fostering transparency and collaboration.
  • Thrives in dynamic environments, managing competing priorities and evolving project requirements while maintaining focus on quality and compliance.
  • Self-motivated to work through complex problems and competing priorities, including a high level of detail and organization.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Travel: 15% (Domestic and International)

Responsibilities

  • Review and validate supplier-provided technical documentation to ensure alignment with project design specifications, industry standards, and established QA/QC requirements for modules, battery containers, and other major equipment.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain supplier quality systems, including clear technical and performance requirements, inspection protocols, and acceptance criteria.
  • Monitor and assess results from third‑party quality services (3PQA) providers (e.g., FAT, IPM, PSI inspections and supplier audits) tracking findings, escalating concerns, and verifying timely resolution.
  • Review and interpret equipment reliability testing (e.g., RETC/PVEL module performance results) to evaluate durability, quality risk, and alignment with performance expectations.
  • Partner with the Engineering and Supply Chain teams during supplier and equipment selection to evaluate quality, reliability, and technical fit for project needs.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for resolving equipment related issues during procurement and execution, coordinating with suppliers, 3PQA providers, and internal teams to ensure conformance with quality expectations.
  • Interface with Independent Engineers (IEs) and financing partners to address equipment quality, performance data, and due diligence requirements.
  • Provide feedback on supplier performance and 3PQA provider effectiveness, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and updates to engineering standards, quality criteria, and supplier qualification processes.
  • Collaborate with individual department, as well as cross-functionally with other departments within the organization.
  • Maintain organizational excellence in terms of project timelines and deliverables.
