About The Position

The Supplier Quality Engineer at Wyman-Gordon is responsible for ensuring that the company's quality systems and procedures meet government and customer requirements, and that products shipped comply with contractual obligations. This role involves overseeing the quality assurance relationship with Grafton and Dillion conversion suppliers, collaborating with various departments to enhance practices that ensure suppliers meet customer, industry, and regulatory standards. The position requires the ability to travel 50% of the time.

Requirements

  • BS minimum, MS, or 3-5 years of experience in quality-related functions preferred
  • SPC/Process Controls Experience
  • FMEA knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and teamwork across functional boundaries
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of forging processes preferred
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and familiarity with conducting AS9100 audits preferred

Responsibilities

  • Build reliability into Operations equipment and processes
  • Identify and implement process & safety improvements
  • Act as the point of contact with customers, regulatory, and government agencies on quality-related issues and audits
  • Identify and analyze supplier risk through on-site visits, audits, assessment tools, and scorecard data analysis
  • Create and execute development plans with suppliers to address gaps and drive performance improvement
  • Lead process improvement teams and quality investigations through corrective and preventative action initiatives
  • Implement standard industry problem-solving and risk mitigation tools with suppliers, including PFMEA and 8D
  • Educate suppliers on Wyman-Gordon and customer requirements
  • Analyze rejection reports and track critical indicators through statistical process control charts
  • Evaluate product cost of quality changes in relation to supplier defects
  • Participate in supplier risk analysis and scorecards to improve performance
  • Evaluate existing and new processing and laboratory sources for compliance
  • Create, write, and amend work instructions and control plans
  • Develop and maintain Processing Specification documents with suppliers
