The Team & Role As a Supplier Quality & Development Engineer you will drive metrics of cost, delivery and quality to support the business objectives and use skills such as problem solving, advance quality planning , and design for manufacturing. This position has the responsibility to coordinate with procurement counterparts in strategic and tactical supply base decisions. Will be involved thru multiple stages of the Gate Management Process beginning with supplier assessment audits, reviewing proposals, technical reviews and quality planning, process development, production approval and launch.

Requirements

  • Quality engineering experience including formal training in: APQP; Flow Charting, Control plans, PFMEA, Statistical Process Control, Measurement System Analysis (Gage R&R)
  • Written and verbal communication and leadership thru all levels of a global corporation .
  • Preparing slides for communication to leadership
  • Problem Solving, Corrective Action, Process Improvement Techniques, Quality Auditing; Quality Systems; ISO 9001 and/or IATF16949
  • Pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Manufacturing
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications including GD&T
  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor's degree in related field
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States – Sponsorship will not be provided for this role

Nice To Haves

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Major in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, materials engineering, or chemical engineering
  • Anticipated Graduation of May 2027

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate suppliers by leading/conducting quality system audits using the Copeland Supplier Audit (CSA) .
  • Assist with source selection and development of suppliers regionally.
  • Assist commodity specific SQE’s and the supplier in communicating requirements of a PPAP and supplier corrective actions as part of a Controlled Safe Launch Process.
  • Audit supplier controls and processes are capable of consistently producing components meeting all requirements.
  • Assure supplier PFMEA, Control Plans, and other process documentation is adequate to achieve a smooth product launch.
  • Develop and support suppliers through visits, process audits, lean projects, providing manufacturing process technical guidance, and other means as appropriate .
  • Assist in Conducting regular audits of supplier facilities to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Collaborating with suppliers and internal partners to enhance manufacturing processes and reduce defects.
  • Developing and implementing quality control plans, including inspection and testing procedures.
  • Analyzing quality data and trends to identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintaining records of supplier performance, quality audits, and corrective actions.
  • Support new product development programs by participating in design reviews and provide commodity related design improvement suggestions for global sourcing, design/manufacturing optimization, and process/tool design.
