About The Position

We are looking for a Supplier Quality Co-Op at Sargento Foods to help us uphold our high standards through rigorous quality management systems, supply chain monitoring, and detailed inspections. You will help ensure that service and material suppliers provide the highest quality products and services while conforming to pre-established requirements by using quality management systems, monitoring of supply chain, and inspection and audits of materials and services to ensure standards. This opportunity combines your classroom experience with real-world work experience in food safety and food quality.

Requirements

  • Pursuing an Associate degree or Bachelor degree in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Food Science or related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in food safety and quality experience is highly desired.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Project). Statistical software preferred (Minitab).
  • Must be able to accurately do basic math and measuring functions for determining supplier capabilities.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and vehicle required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of routine scientific tasks that provide experience and familiarization with technical and other functional areas using the methods, practices, and programs of Sargento Foods Inc. (SFI).
  • Responsible for providing support in the areas of on-boarding, product testing, inspection, and auditing of systems and processes to ensure the quality and food safety of products.
  • Requests new, updated or missing supporting documents from suppliers.
  • Ensures compliance with and/or writes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and specifications.
  • Gathers data, performs capability assessment, and provides recommendations on specification changes.
  • Grades/Inspects incoming materials against specifications.
  • Reviews and saves Certificate of Analysis (COA) in CARA.
  • Applies quality tools and approaches (e.g., root cause analysis, pareto charting, process mapping, cause and effect diagramming, etc.).
  • Collects and evaluates data and writes reports to document deviations from existing programs.
  • Assists in writing, communication, and training of Food Safety and Quality Programs and standard operating procedures.
