About The Position

The incumbent will perform a variety of supplier quality-related duties, including the following: Coordinate and lead efforts to analyze, understand, disposition, resolve and prevent future recurrence of supplier-related material non-conformances; serve as a liaison to waterfront trades and construction management; drive implementation of quality programs and process improvements at targeted suppliers to decrease deficient material problems downstream; initiate/validate supplier corrective/preventive actions; interface with internal Procurement and Engineering functions to facilitate the development/improvement of part ordering requirements; interface with Customer, Government and senior shipyard management regarding supplier-related issues as required. Individual should possess an in-depth knowledge of shipyard operations, manufacturing methods and facilities. Working experience in a manufacturing environment is desired. Must be able to accomplish objectives successfully with little/no supervision. Project management/leadership experience is desired. Proficiency with computer programs such as SAP, Access and Excel are desired. Excellent communication, technical writing, and customer relations skills are essential. Up to 20% of work time involves travel. Must be able to obtain DoD security clearance Plans, organizes, directs and reports on all supplier quality-related activities such as raw materials, packaging materials, good manufacturing practices (GMP) service providers, as well as contract manufacturers, and/or contract manufacturing and laboratories to assure fulfillment of contract/purchase order requirements. Translates engineering, manufacturing, and quality requirements. Assures that customer quality-imposed technical requirements are adhered to by supplier and that a quality system is maintained. Conducts programs designed to improve supplier performance, productivity, and process validation. Prepares, maintains and reviews procurement quality assurance procedures to assure compliance with customer and/or government requirements. Reviews and analyzes corrective action reports and purchase orders in an effort to reduce and eliminate defects. Monitors quality control activities and systems at supplier and subcontractor facilities, and maintains feedback loops. May administer a certified supplier program or related programs in receiving inspection. May also audit third party manufacturers, due diligence and vendor selection process. May perform deviation investigations into quality issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 8 year of relevant professional experience
  • One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications: NNS Apprentice School graduate Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

Nice To Haves

  • In-depth knowledge of shipyard operations, manufacturing methods and facilities.
  • Project management/leadership experience.
  • Proficiency in SAP, DDMS, IHS, and Excel.
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and customer relations skills.
  • In-depth working knowledge of the Ship Certification process, the Procurement Value Stream Process, and the Process and Procedures for identification and disclosure of potential nor conformances in NNS Purchased material.
  • Knowledge of Military and Commercial technical specifications with proven ability to interpret those requirements as potentially-modified by NNS requirements.
  • Proficiency in providing written technical correspondence and assessments, including recommended actions.
