Just look up. Are you ready to go beyond? The role will be in New Product Introductions (NPI) responsible for supporting the manufacture of new & experimental engine components by our supplier base. This critical role will report to the Global Supply Chain Operational Excellence (OpX) organization and bridges design engineering and supply chain by driving technical excellence, process capability and continuous improvement with our manufacturing partners.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Knowledge of aerospace composite fabrication, manufacturing, special processes, inspection methods and process controls.
  • Minimum 8 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of prepreg materials, vacuum bagging, autoclave/oven curing and clean room practices.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and quality standards.
  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) methodologies.
  • Background in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventive actions.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools.
  • Professional certifications such as Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or Lean Practitioner.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and assess Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) within P&W Supply Base.
  • Collaborate with P&W’s Integrated Product Team (IPT) design engineering, quality and procurement to address manufacturability concerns and drive cost-effective solutions.
  • Evaluate new engineering designs and changes to establish the MRL advancement plan and certification, including evaluations of tooling, equipment, special test and inspection requirements, to ensure smooth integration into the supplier’s production processes.
  • Identify and provide guidance on manufacturing methods that will lead to strengthened process controls, increased throughput and improved quality at suppliers.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality or delivery issues.
